My name is Emily. I’m currently a teaching candidate at Brock University. I’m also an engineer, physicist, craft enthusiast, drama geek, and a life long learner. I live in Burlington with my partner, Mark, and our two cats, Odis and Boo.
Here are some tidbits about me:
I absolutely loved University. I got dropped off at Queen’s in 2003 and emerged 6 years later with an undergraduate degree in Engineering Physics and a Masters in Astrophysics. For me, University opened the door to a whole new world of possibilities. The picture above was taken during frosh week 2003. (Incidentally, spray paint will take 6-8 months to get completely out of your hair.)
This is a picture of me with one of my favourite people ever: my brother. Have you ever seen the musical, Wicked? There’s this one song in Wicked called “For Good” with the lyric: “Because I knew you, I have been changed for good.” That pretty much sums it up with this guy. If it weren’t for Paul, I know I certainly wouldn’t be here pursuing a career in teaching.
I LOVE science! I especially love having fun with science. In this picture, Mark, Paul and I are hanging out at an information session at Queen’s, and using the opportunity to make liquid nitrogen ice cream. Really, any excuse is a good excuse to make liquid nitrogen ice cream.
And, finally, I’m really looking forward to this year at Brock. I can’t wait to connect with lots of people and hear their views on education and teaching.
